“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” [30:21]

The significance attached to marriage in Islam is reflected in the many Islamic proclamations, directives and laws aimed at supporting and protecting this sacred union.

Marriage is regarded as a form of worship, a safeguard on chastity, and essential to the growth and stability of the family structure; it is a covenant between two destined individuals who unite to display their obedience to God and attestation to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet, May the Peace and Mercy of God be Upon Him.
